User Agreement

By editing Danganronpa Wiki, you agree to abide by Wikia's Terms of Use.
This means that by editing or participating here, you agree that:

  • You are over 13 years of age.
  • You will not abuse, harass, threaten or intimidate other users.
  • You will not post explicit, homophobic, racist, or otherwise deliberately offensive material.
  • You will not use the Wiki as a platform to advertise your goods or services.
  • You will not post or solicit information which invades others' right to privacy (such as personal information).

The above applies to all parts of our Wiki, including message walls, forums, talk pages, userpages, usernames, avatars and profile information, and breaking any of the above rules will lead to a ban, potentially a permanent ban depending on the offense. For more information see our Blocking Policy.

General Guidelines

  • Assume all edits are made in Good Faith. Everyone makes mistakes. If you need to correct an error someone has made, politely explain your reasoning in the Edit Summary, or contact them on their message wall. Do not engage in edit wars.
  • Speculation or ambiguous information is not permitted. As a rule, if a sentence contains words such as "could", "might", "possibly" or "likely" you should question the fact's veracity. What might seem obvious to you might seem like speculation to others. Add sources where possible to backup your claim. If you are unsure, contact an Admin.
  • ALL content which is based on fan translations must be sourced to the original translator. This includes but is not limited to video game translations (Danganronpa V3), manga, magazine articles, or book translations. Any translated work added to the wiki with no source will be removed. If you do not know the source, contact an Admin.
  • You can report vandalism to staff, or bring up any other issues by leaving a message on an Admin's message wall. For more information on what constitutes vandalism, see our Vandalism Policy.
  • Header/Top-Hat templates (for example, Template:Stub) should not be removed by editors without first contacting an Admin.

Message Walls

  • Danganronpa Wiki isn't Facebook, please do not engage in lengthy off-topic conversations on your message wall, as it makes our Recent Wiki Activity more difficult to moderate. Please take lengthy conversations to a free instant messaging service such as Discord, which can be used without installing the application.
  • If a user asks a question on an Admin's wall, do not answer on the Admin's behalf or insert yourself into the conversation, as it blurs the line between moderators and editors.

User Pages

  • Spoiler images and information, particularly character deaths, are never permitted on user pages.
  • Editors who join this Wiki are expected to contribute, not exclusively edit their user profile or maintain their list of favourite characters hosted here. Editors who are shown to only have interest in editing their own profile will have their profile locked until they have made an effort to contribute to the Wiki.
  • Fan art is not permitted on user pages or user profiles, as per our Image Policy, unless it can be proven you are the original artist, or can prove permission from the original artist.
  • Using your user profile, message walls, talk pages, or any other pages on the Wiki as an opportunity to roleplay a Danganronpa character or fan character is not permitted.
  • Do not add personal identifying information, such as your real full name or contact information, anywhere on your profile. It will be removed for security purposes.
  • Deliberately offensive material is not permitted on user pages or user profiles, as per our User Agreement. This includes - but is not limited to - slurs of any kind.
  • While editors are allowed 1 personal sandbox (personal in this instance meaning "unrelated to a Danganronpa Wiki specific project"), editors are only permitted to store up to 20 images in their sandbox. This is to ensure that editor sandboxes do not become graveyards for outdated and old versions of files that might otherwise prevent them from appearing in Special:UnusedImages. If you wish to store a collection of images for your own personal use, we recommend you use an outside image host such as imgur.
  • Editors may have multiple sandboxes only if each sandbox is related to a Danganronpa Wiki related project in the understanding that, once that project is complete, the contents will be cleared. Please contact a staff member if you wish to have more than 1 sandbox so that we can confirm it's for a project. If a sandbox has not been edited for 9 months or more, your sandbox may be cleared by a staff member.
  • Do not edit other users' sandboxes or userprofiles, even if you mean well. If you find an error in someone's work in progress, or have a suggestion, please bring it up on their message wall rather than editing directly.
    • The only exception to this rule is collaborations between users (please contact an Admin first to let us know), or in the case of Admins patrolling redlinks, broken images, or replacing templates.

Notability

Before making a page, consider how important the topic is to the series:

  • Ask yourself: Can this person, group, or event be summarised in one or two paragraphs? If so, consider if it would be better to include it as part of a related article, in order to improve the existing article.
  • Characters or Groups who only appear on one page of a manga, or make a minor appearance in an anime or game, are not notable enough for their own article, and should instead be added to the Minor Characters section, or merged with similar characters, such as Hope's Peak Academy Class Batches.
  • Events or Locations which only appear on a single occasion, and don’t have a lasting impact on the franchise as a whole, are not notable enough for their own article, and would be better detailed on the chapter or episode that they occurred in.

If you are unsure if a character or topic is notable enough for their own article, contact an Admin.

Language and Localization

  • All articles on the Wiki should be written in American English.
  • All articles should be written in the past tense.
  • As an English language Wiki, we always defer to the official English localization canon for character names and titles:
    • All characters' names should be spelled as they are in localized material, for example, Sakura Ogami vs Sakura Oogami, or Toko Fukawa vs Touko Fukawa. Where there is a conflict between game and anime spellings for a name, game spelling takes precedent.
    • For Anime-only characters, name spelling should be whatever is used on official materials (such as the official website).
    • Characters should be referred to by their first names.
    • Localization nicknames such as "Hina" and "Taka" should only be used in guides, quotes, and transcripts.
    • All characters’ titles should be noted as Ultimate, unless it has not been stated in any localized material, in which case, their title remains as Super High School Level.
  • Non-localized material, for example most manga releases, songs, terminology in light novels, etc, should use the Romaji rather than a fan translation, with a translation of the term in brackets after the first mention only.
  • Real-world individuals, for example Bryce Papenbrook, should be referred to by their last names after the first sentence.
  • Japanese real-world individuals with double vowels in their names should have their names formatted with macrons, eg. Nobuyo Ōyama rather than Nobuyo Ooyama.

Canonicity and Contradictions

  • In the case of contradictions or factual inaccuracies between the games and other material, such as manga, novels, or anime, the canon of the games always takes priority, followed by the anime, then artbooks, then other material.
  • As a general rule, only works written or contributed to by Kazutaka Kodaka are considered canonical. Examples of canon material by Kodaka are the games, the anime, one-shot short stories, interviews, and Kodaka’s Famitsu articles.
  • All audio dramas and manga are considered non-canon, with the exception of Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer.
  • The canonicity of material fromDanganronpa: Togami, Free Time Events, School Mode, Island Mode, and Ultimate Talent Development Plan is the subject of debate and may be included in character articles, however only if it does not contradict the game or anime canon, in which case it should be separated from the canonical information.
  • Non-canonical and dubiously-canonical information may be included in articles, however it should be made clear that the source material is non-canonical, and not be included alongside canonical information.

Always Credit Fan Contributions

It is very important to us on Danganronpa Wiki that fan community translators, scanners, transparenters and compilers are credited for the hard work and time they put into sharing hard-to-access resources with us. As such, we require that any content shared on the wiki that has been translated, scanned, compiled or transparented by an individual be sourced to the person who posted the original. If you do not know the original source, contact an Admin before posting.

  • To source, use the following format:
    • For translations in articles, for a full section or paragraph:
      • {{credit|The following is based on translations by [http://url.com NAMEHERE]}}
    • For translations that are only a sentence or two:
      • <ref>Translated by [http://url of the source.com NAMEHERE]</ref>
    • For scans in galleries:
      • <ref>Scanned by [http://url.com NAMEHERE]</ref>
    • For transparented images:
      • We ask that they are not uploaded except by the person who originally transparented the image, because Wikia does not make it easy to credit the original image contributor. Re-uploading or resizing transparent images for use in infoboxes or elsewhere is also not permitted. As such, please contact an admin so that the original transparenter can be contacted.

Trivia

Trivia, though a popular section of the Wiki, can often become a repository for random facts and speculation. As such, here are some general guidelines for trivia:

  • The trivia section should be considered a "last resort" for when there is no other section of the page where a fact may fit. Before adding a fact, consider if there is anywhere else in the article that may be a better place for it, for example, a piece of trivia about a character's name should be added to the "name" section, or a piece of trivia about a character's appearance should be added to the "appearance" section.
  • Trivia should not be a repeat of information already included in another section of the page.
  • Speculation of any kind of not permitted on the Wiki. Any piece of trivia which is written in such a way that it includes phrases such as "could", "might", "possibly" or "likely" is considered speculation regardless of how "obvious" it may seem to you. Add sources to support your claim where possible.
  • The order of trivia should be placed following this guideline:
    • Development that does not fit in the Creation and Development section, such as cut material or material that isn't related to the character directly but an aspect of them, such as an execution.
    • Game-based trivia, such as a cameo appearance.
    • Bonus Content within the games, such as the extra modes School Mode or Free Time Events should the trivia not fit within any above categories on character articles.
    • Anime-based trivia, such as differences between the games and anime adaptions.
    • Other official material, such as manga series or stage play adaptions.
    • Collaborations with other companies, such as mobile game crossovers. For example Danganronpa 3 x Hōkai Gakuen.
    • Trivia from real-world people within Danganronpa content, such as two voice actors being married or a voice actor voicing more than one character.
    • Trivia from Kazutaka Kodaka, such as his in-character birthday tweets.

Image Guidelines

General Rules

  • Images should be uploaded in the best quality available, and high resolution where possible.
  • To avoid copyright infringement, any images uploaded into article or gallery spaces should be used for illustrative purposes only. This means that they are used to depict something which would be difficult to describe in words alone or is depicting an event is described in the paragraph next to it.
  • Complete scans of any book are not permitted, as it is a breach of copyright law. Single panels or example pages may be uploaded only if they are used for illustrative purposes, as above.
  • Additionally, any panels or pages from fan-translated (scanslated) manga are not permitted - any translated text should be cropped out of the image. Ideally, use raw Japanese scans.
  • Any screenshots from anime should not include subtitles.
  • Pornographic or otherwise nude/sexual images are not permitted - even if they are canonical to the Danganronpa franchise such as a screenshot or manga page - as they are against Wikia’s Terms of Use. This includes the "Man's Nut" (DR2) "Gun of Man's Passion" (DRV3) CGs, and that CG of Korekiyo in DRV3. If you are unsure whether an image breaks this rule, contact an Admin before uploading.
  • In image galleries, make an effort to describe what the image is in the caption, such as the name of the book, magazine, or anime episode it came from.
  • In image galleries, original book/magazine scanners must be credited in the caption using reference tags. If the original scanner cannot be identified, contact an Admin for advice.
  • Fanart in articles or galleries is not permitted, except if it has been drawn by franchise contributor such as a Danganronpa crew member, voice actor, or manga illustrator.
  • In sprite galleries, the only material allowed are raw assets that come from the game files, and faithful recreations of raw assets, such 1:1 pixels. If you are unsure about something you wish to add, please contact an Admin for advice.

Filenames

In order to ensure our image database is easy to search, filenames should, at minimum, include the FULL localization First name and Surname of any characters pictured, except in the circumstance in which a large group of characters are pictured, in which case you would use the name of the group of people, or if it is a scanned page of predominantly text. E.g:

  • Danganronpa_1_Makoto_Naegi_Fullbody_Sprite_01.png
  • Danganronpa_1_CG_-_Class_78th_Epilogue_Vault_Door.png
  • Danganronpa_The_Animation_Leon_Kuwata_Execution.png
  • Danganronpa_2_Artbook_Scan_Hajime_Hinata_Beta_Designs_01.png
  • Danganronpa_V3_Kaede_Akamatsu_Report_Card_01.png
  • Famitsu_Scan_September_29th_2016_Page_01.png

Surname or first name only is not acceptable.

Localization nicknames like “Hina” or “Taka”, or original Japanese spellings of names, may be additionally included in the filename, but not be the only name included. E.g:

  • Danganronpa_1_Aoi_Asahina_Hina_Introduction.png
  • Danganronpa_1_Kiyotaka_Ishimaru_Taka_Class_Trial.png

Any image which does not follow the above guidelines may be deleted.

Userpages

  • Spoiler images and text are not permitted in userpages and will be removed.
  • In the case of Danganronpa V3 this means any content whatsoever which would be considered a plot spoiler, up to but not limited to: Who the mastermind is, murders, executions, or key plot events.
  • In the case of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Danganronpa: Another Episode, this includes character deaths.
  • While uploading images for your userpage is allowed, it is strongly suggested that they are uploaded to a service such an external hosting service such as IMGUR and embedded, in order to make our image uploads easier to moderate.
  • As of June 2017, uploading Fanart to the wiki (which you have not created yourself) is not permitted. The only exception to this rule is if you can provide proof that you have personal permission from the artist (such as in the case of commissioned art). This is part of our commitment to try and ensure all community creators are credited for their work.
  • Any other non-fanart images MUST include the prefix NON-RELATED, eg:
    • NON-RELATED_Kyogre_Animation.gif
  • Any images uploaded to your userpage including nudity, gore, jumpscares, deliberately offensive content, or which otherwise break our User Agreement guidelines will be removed.
  • Any images uploaded but are not actually added on any page in a 24 hour period, including but not limited to userpages, articles, galleries, etc. will be deleted without warning even if they follow our other guidelines. If you have trouble with adding images to pages, or don't know where to add it, please contact an Admin for help.

Vandalism

The following behavior is considered vandalism:

  • Adding irrelevant or nonsensical information to any article.
  • Deliberately removing correct information with no clarification in the edit summary or contacting an admin.
  • Using offensive language or breaking the Wikia Terms of Use outlined in our User Agreement.
  • Writing in a language other than English or Japanese, because Admins cannot moderate it.
  • Edit-warring with another editor (continuously editing/undoing edits on a page to change or remove another editor's contribution). Conflicts or debates between editors should be taken to the article's talk page or the individuals' message walls. If necessary, contact an Admin to mediate the dispute.
  • Raiding the Wiki as part of a group of vandals making similar edits in a short period of time will result in an instant one month ban.
You can report vandalism to staff either by leaving a message on an Admin's message wall.

Blocking Policy

In Cases of Vandalism

For information on what qualifies as Vandalism, see: Danganronpa Wiki:Vandalism.

  • First offence: A warning will be given on the editor's message wall by an Administrator, Content Moderator or Rollback. If the warning is ignored, the editor will be blocked for up to one week. In severe cases, the editor may be automatically blocked for a week or longer (depending on the severity of the vandalism) before a warning is given to prevent further offences. If the user wishes to dispute a claim, they may contact an Administrator.

  • Second offence: If the editor returns to vandalism after their first ban has expired, the editor will be given a block for 6 months - 1 year (depending on the severity).

  • Third offence: If the editor returns to vandalism after their second ban has expired, the editor will be blocked permanently.

NOTE: Any user found removing warnings from their message wall will incur a 1 week block.

Other Bannable Offenses

The length of the block, or in some cases permanent ban, will depend on the severity of the offence. Blockable offenses include, but are not limited to:

  • Breaking any part of the Wikia Terms of Use or the Danganronpa Wiki User Agreement.
  • Harassment, intimidation, or impersonation of another editor or staff member.
  • Posting pornographic, homophobic, racist, or otherwise deliberately offensive material.
  • Unauthorized use of bots or auto-editing programs.
  • Sock-puppetry, and using secondary accounts to evade bans.
  • Using our Wiki to discuss disputes from other Wikis or as a ban-evasion tactic, particularly as a means to intimidate another Wiki's staff into unbanning you. If you have an issue with Administrators from another wiki, take it to their message wall on Community Central.

It should not be assumed that just because a rule is not specifically listed in our guidelines, it is not potentially a warnable or bannable offence. The admins of Danganronpa Wiki assume that editors are working in Good Faith, and initial first offenses that occur outside of our specific ruleset will be assumed to be a genuine mistake (unless it is a ToS break), but further offenses are considered to break the Good Faith assumption and will be handled with a warning or ban based on the mod's discretion.

If an editor wishes to dispute a claim, they may contact an Administrator.
