Usami's swimsuit sprite is unlocked when her S-Rank card has been obtained from the in-game MonoMono Machines.

Monomi and Usami can be unlocked by collecting their card from the Card Death Machine. After being collected, they are playable character in the board game and dungeon crawler Bonus Mode minigames.

Because the PSP version of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair was created before PSN trophies were implemented, a system called the "Usami Flower" was included in the game, where completing certain tasks ingame - mostly the same tasks needed to obtain trophies in the later releases of DR2 - made the "Usami Flower" grow.
