This article covers Kiyotaka Ishimaru's School Mode events, which feature in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. In this article you will find a guide to which trip options will give the best results, full transcripts of each trip, and transcripts of his Trigger Happy Heart event and School Mode ending.
After choosing where to go on a trip, Makoto will have a series of conversation topics to choose from. Depending on the option chosen, Makoto will receive a different response:
Best Option
1 heart
Good Option
½ heart
Bad Option
No hearts
Worst Option
No hearts
When getting close to 10 full hearts, Kiyotaka's Trigger Happy Heart event will be triggered, which will give Makoto an insight into Kiyotaka's inner thoughts.
Achieving 10 hearts will unlock Kiyotaka's ending at the end of School Mode. On the 51st day of School Mode, Makoto will be alone in the Gym with any characters that the player has earned full max reputation with. Talking to them will trigger a final dialogue choice option. If the player selects the correct answer, they will receive that character's special present - that character's underwear. This will also unlock a heart icon next to that character's picture's on subsequent playthroughs of School Mode.
Trips[]
Dining Hall[]
For breakfast, Japanese style is best.
You got it! All I need is my miso soup and my pickled veggies and I'm good to go! But still, that doesn't mean I *never* eat Western food. Sometimes I eat toast for lunch! All I need is my fried egg and my banana and I'm good to go!
But either way, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Make sure you eat plenty, Makoto!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
Want something to drink?
...Is that why you brought me here? I thought maybe you had something important you wanted to talk about.
But thank you for your thoughtfulness! Okay then, let's have some tea!
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
When I'm starving, it's burger time!
I won't deny your preference, but... ...hamburgers are utterly unorthodox! A true Japanese student should always recommend rice balls!
It's true, hamburgers do provide plenty of caloric energy, but they're bad for your digestive system!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
So what do you like to do at night?
After I study for the next day's lesson, I like to cleanse body and soul, strip down, then hit the sack!
You should follow the same regimen! Even outside of class, students have no time for goofing off!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
You think that clock is right?
Hmm... According to my watch...
M-My goodness! It's slightly off! When the clock everyone relies on is off, that's a big problem...
But who can we ask to fix it? It'd probably have to be...Monokuma, right?
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
How do you get your hair to do that?
To do what? Hair doesn't matter! Your only duty is to study!
Everyone here lacks the necessary qualities of a student! And that includes you, Makoto!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
You're always so...fired up.
Now I have to hear that from you, too? I mean...other classmates have told me the same thing before. Honestly, I never really understood what any of them were talking about.
All I know is, I don't want to get dragged down by those around me! So no matter what anyone says, I will not falter!
Hahahahaha! Do you know what I'm talking about!?
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
What should we talk about...?
What *is* there to talk about? If you don't know what else to do with yourself... ...you should review the school regulations in detail one more time!
It's important for every student to know their school's regulations like the back of their hand!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
Do you know how to cook?
Of course! I've been very diligent in my culinary studies. My personal specialties are rice balls, and rice with green tea. I've been learning how to make my rice balls in different shapes. The star shape is the hardest!
See? Even I know how to relax and have a good time once in a while! Hahaha!
His idea of a "good time" is kinda...weird.
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
School Store[]
You think there's any uniforms here?
It's a school store, of course there are! I intend on buying *that* here, if nothing else.
I need to get into this school's uniform and dive into my studies!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
Do they have any new anime DVDs here...?
I would never presume to judge someone's hobbies...
...but if you want my opinion, anime is a total waste of time! Stop watching it!
How is that not "presuming to judge"...?
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
I want this awesome armor!
You want something like...that?
Wh-What are you planning!? Are you preparing to battle with someone!?
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
I remember these toy vending machines!
Hmm. Indeed, they're a common part of most people's childhood. But I've never touched one even once in my life!
Still, I have those same fond memories. I saw a classmate use one once!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
That's a pretty cute doll.
I have no desire to play make-believe. If that's what you want, go find some little girls to play with.
Besides, we're high school students, for gosh sake! It's time you put away your childish things!
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
Let's dig for treasure!
Dig for treasure!? Makoto! School is where you come to devote yourself to your studies!
This is no time to get addicted to treasure hunting!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Let's organize things in here a little...
Organize, eh? Hahaha! You have a truly diligent soul, Makoto!
Okay, let's work together to finish the task! No time like the present, am I right? So let's get to work right away!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
There's all kinds of paintings here...
As they say, to appreciate art is to develop the heart! I feel like this painting realizes and recognizes this sort of belief. But to find it here in the school store... Is someone trying to sell *this*, too!?
This is certainly a surprise! The scale at which this school operates is immesurable!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
That's a huge vase!
It's very large, you're right. And it has an air of history that you can practically touch. I have to wonder how something like this wound up here...
Maybe they intended to fill it with flowers and beautify the school.
Or maybe someone simply brought it here to try and sell it.
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
Library[]
Maybe we should tidy up a little.
Indeed! I like your attitude! To place value on a book is to place value on knowledge! And more than that... ...you've shown moral judgment in wanting to make this public area more beautiful. Simply splendid! But make no mistake, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing! Then shall we begin, my brother in arms!?
Toko's books, you say...? N-No... I mean, a classmate wrote them, so I should probably at least take a glance, but...
But I d-don't know too much about romance novels and the like...
Yeah, he definitely looks uncomfortable with the idea of romance...
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
There sure are a lot of books here.
...And? What's your point? This is a library! Of COURSE there are a lot of books here!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Should we spend some time studying?
Makoto! I'm very impressed! You've decided to pursue knowledge of your own free will! In situations like this one, such independence is a true student's last refuge!
I fully support your perseverance, so let's combine forces and do our best!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
I love reading!
Books grant us knowledge, so any student should embrace the habit of reading.
And if you can actually come to *enjoy* reading, so much the better!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
I'm gettin' kinda sleepy...
Stop slacking off, Makoto! Your duty as a student is to study! What's the point of standing around in a daze!?
As a member of the public morals committee, allow me to help you shape up and fly straight!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Do you come here a lot?
Naturally! Without classes or worksheets or anything, this is the only way we have to learn anything!
It's strange though, isn't it? Monokuma calls himself the headmaster, but there are no teachers... Although we all came here to learn, it would appear that they didn't bring anyone here to teach!
Or...could it be...? Is Monokuma properly certified to teach every single subject himself!?
I think we both had a pretty good time.
This place is so quiet...
To disturb the peace of the library is unthinkable! You must be careful, Makoto!
I think *he's* the one that needs to be careful. But I'll keep that to myself...
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
I just wanna read comics...
A-Are you blind!?
This library has a collection of all the greatest literature by all the greatest authors!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Rec Room[]
Is that a dartboard?
Ah yes, darts. I actually tried my hand at it with Celeste already. When do you go for more points, and when do you give up? It's actually a pretty intellectual game!
Of course, the game ended in a clean sweep for Celeste...
Apparently I still lack the proper diligence!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
What kinds of magazines do you like?
Oh, I don't read magazines. A nice, thick newspaper is all I need!
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
Let's check our horoscope in the magazine.
Y-You believe in stuff like that!? Pitiful, Makoto... Very pitiful! I mean really...
I hate being manipulated by the stupid horoscopes they put in these stupid magazines!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
I'm not sure about any of these games...
Hahaha! You've got a point there! This rec room is more of a hassle than it's worth, that's for sure.
Now let's go to the library and hit the books! Plant that butt, arch that back, put your head down and get to studying!
I've never heard any of her music myself, but...she's apparently rather talented, isn't she? Personally, I'd love for her to teach me some of her vocal training regimen.
As a disciplinarian, I often find myself speaking in public. It's important I project as much as possible!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
We should try singing something.
Hmm... If you absolutely insist, I won't refuse.
So, what would you like to sing? A school fight song or the national anthem? Those are your two choices!
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
I wanna do some karaoke.
Makoto! What kind of deplorable activities have you been getting involved in!? To enter a private karaoke box with fellow students...?
Your public morals are simply atrocious!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
That piano looks pretty expensive...
Naturally! This is Hope's Peak Academy, after all! Unfortunately, I don't know too much about this sort of thing myself.
But it's official school equipment, right? They'd never buy some cheap knockoff junk! The equipment in this school must be of the utmost quality, in every field imaginable!
Haha! Gosh, I just love this wonderful environment! Let's do our best to make it even better, shall we?
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
Wanna try singing together with everyone?
I don't mind that kind of thing as an official school event, but do you think they'd be up for it? It would require a uniform, and I know how students these days think it's so lame to dress the same!
But that makes no sense to me! You should throw yourself into school events more than anything!
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
There's not much to do here...
If I knew I'd be wasting my time doing nothing...
...I never would have come here with you!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Garden[]
Wanna walk around a bit?
Walking is the perfect way to balance your mind and body! And as students, we must always maintain both!
Plus, walking helps strengthen the body as well. Two birds with one stone! So as long as we've got the energy, let's walk like we've never walked before!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
I'd love to just lay down and go to sleep.
It sounds like you're interested in the Spanish custom of the "siesta."
But Spain's lifestyle is wholly inapplicable to the Japanese way of doing things! What use is there in thoughtless napping!?
But I heard a ten-minute nap once a day can help you feel more awake and alert...
I think we both had a pretty good time.
The happy blue sky kinda cheers me up...
Well, it *is* a lovely shade of blue, but...
...it's not real at all! They've made a complete fool of you!
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Look at those chickens!
Is this how they're trying to teach the importance of life? By watching chickens breed? I can't imagine what caused this school to fall into such depravity...
But I have to believe it's possible to return things to the way they used to be! I'm sure we'll get our chance to take the most excellent classes!
Hahaha! I just can't help myself from looking forward to the future!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
It's super humid in here, huh?
Perhaps if you observed your surroundings, you would know why! Clearly they're raising plants in here. So some amount of humidity is necessary! Not that ALL plants need humidity, of course.
But either way, this place isn't designed with humans in mind. It's a plant-first ecology!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
Wanna do some gardening?
Hmm... I don't really have much experience with that kind of thing.
Y-You must view everything as a challenge to overcome, Makoto! So...good luck!
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
We can't eat these chickens...
Are you talking about how little meat they have on them? Indeed... But what we CAN eat, is these chickens' eggs!
Wait, they might all be males! In which case... ...
Well, where there's a will there's always a way! If it comes down to it, we gotta do what we gotta do!
I understand that now! See how the school teaches us!? It just taught us that we only survive through the sacrifice of others!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
Do you like this place?
Well, more than just this particular location... ...I don't dislike observing plants. I think there's definitely a lot to learn from places like this.
So make sure you observe plants as much as possible!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
It's a sprinkler...
Yup, that's definitely a sprinkler.
Ngh—! Makoto, you're not thinking of using that to get into some kind of...m-mischief, are you? ...No no no, you're not the kind of person who would ever think such thoughts!
I'm sorry, Makoto! Please forgive me for ever doubting you, even for an instant!
Wh-What is there to forgive? What did you think I was gonna do...?
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
General Reactions[]
These dialogues are the reactions Makoto will receive at the end of the trip, depending on which choice was made.
Best Option
We spent some very meaningful time together! Every day should be more like this! A day like today will never come around again. But then again...no two days are really ever the same. Well, I'll never regret the time I spent with you. We have to live each day to its fullest!
Okay, I'd better get back to my room. Come on, Makoto!
Good Option
That wasn't too bad, huh Makoto?
Even being trapped here, if you just give up then you can never really grow. Let's find whatever mental escape we can in here, and just focus on that!
Okay, time to get back to my room!
Bad Option
I wasted so much time... If we do hang out again, I'd like to do something more productive next time.
Okay, I'm gonna head out now. See ya!
Worst Option
Hrrrg... If I knew it was gonna turn out like this, I would've spent the time studying by myself in my room...!
No, there's still time! It's not too late! I have to go now, Makoto!
Trigger Happy Heart[]
Trigger Happy Heart is a minigame in School mode. It uses mechanics similar to the Non Stop Debate trial minigame during Class Trials. During this event, Makoto will get insight into Kiyotaka's inner thoughts, and can refute or confirm something he is anxious about by using special Truth Bullets called "negation" and "affirmation". Successfully navigating this event is necessary to unlock Kiyotaka's ending.

Kiyotaka's Trigger Happy Heart
Even when you confide in people, it doesn't solve anything...
But still... I'd just like someone to listen...! But whenever I *do* start talking...
...I just end up forcing my own beliefs, my values, myself on them!
Is it fair of me to do something like that...?
But Makoto's like me, right? He has an ultimate talent. So maybe because it's him...
...am I allowed to impose?
Or am I just being unforgivably selfish?
Options[]
Affirmation: Is it fair of me
What's wrong with that?
Nn...? Wh-What are you talking about?
You don't have to think of it like you're forcing anything on anyone. Try thinking of it like...you're just telling me about yourself. That's all I want.
M-Makoto!
I can't tell you how much that means to me! Honestly, I really appreciate it!
But! But still...
Taka...?
What I'm haunted by... It's not the kind of thing where I tell you a story about myself, and it has an ending and that's it.
The things I want to say, it's just me pointlessly droning on about how I think and feel. I'm just going on and on about my values and morals, without any real point to it.
And if you're the person listening...isn't that just one giant nuisance?
If they're your friend, it's not a nuisance at all! To me, a friend is someone who can accept that kind of thing. Don't you think so?
... I... For everything I've learned up till now...what have I been missing out on?
Listen, Makoto. If it's okay... ...would you mind being that kind of person? Someone I can talk to once in a while?
Of course! It would be my pleasure!
It looks to me like he had a really good time.
Negation: unforgivably selfish
No. You're not being selfish.
Wh...!? Makoto! ...Listen, you don't have to lie to me.
I'm not.
...
But isn't it annoying to have someone force their beliefs on you?
It's not annoying, and you're not forcing anything. Everyone wants a friend that they can tell all their thoughts and feelings to. It's normal.
It...it is!?
So you don't have to keep trying to hold it in, honest.
I see... It would appear my education is still lacking!
Thank you, Makoto, for showing me how much more I still have to learn!
I think we both had a pretty good time.
Negation: Is it fair of me
It's not like, unforgivable or anything. But if you can help it, you should try not to, I think...
I knew it! You're right, I need to just stop...
H-Hold on! I didn't mean it like that...! I mean, rather than blurting things out you're not sure of, you should arrange your thoughts first.
No no, it's fine! Don't worry about it!
I'm sorry... I completely embarrassed myself in front of you.
Urgh... I totally messed this up.
I get the feeling he didn't have much fun...
Affirmation: unforgivably selfish
Yeah, it *is* kinda selfish.
Ah... I was right, then. Thank you, Makoto. I'm glad to have someone confirm that.
Crap... I don't think things went too well...
Kiyotaka's Ending[]
If Makoto has achieved all 10 hearts by the 51st day of School Mode, Makoto will unlock Kiyotaka's ending.
Kiyotaka's School Mode Ending
I decided to talk to Taka one more time before we all left... I wonder if this is the last time we'll ever see this place... The time we spent here didn't make much sense, but...looking back, I can't say I didn't have fun. There are still some mysteries left. What was Monokuma, really? Why'd we end up here? I still don't have answers, but I'll have time to figure all that out once we escape...
...
Taka... We're about to get out of here, but you don't look too happy about it.
Makoto... Don't laugh, okay?
Huh...?
I'm...scared. Here, we have structure, order, discipline. What's waiting for us out there...? I don't see it as just escaping, you know? Couldn't you say that as students, we're protected by the school? That's what I started thinking about while we were sealed up in here.
I see... Graduating from high school and going out into the world definitely takes courage...
But still... I know we can't just stand here! I think I learned that here, too...
Taka...
I still hate geniuses! That definitely hasn't changed...! But other parts of me *have* changed. All that matters is that I keep pushing forward! I had it all wrong, you know... I always thought that showing emotion, showing concern or pain, was a sign of weakness. But that's not true at aIl. And you taught me that...!
Thank you, Makoto! You don't know how grateful I am! This place was strange, definitely. But I also learned a lot while I was here.
So I'm glad I got to spend my time here!
I...feel the same way. Our time here was bizarre, that's for sure. But we built some good memories, too. Which is why I have to believe this isn't the last time we'll see each other.
...Makoto!
Huh?
I need you to promise me something!
You do...?
Remember what I told you before? About taking aim and doing our best together!?
Oh, um...
What was it again?
What was it again?
Wh-Wh-Wh—!? Wh-Wh-Wh-Wh-Wh-Wh—!?
WHAAAAAT!? Did you seriously forget!?!? We talked about it SO MUCH! You! You're just—just—!
Oh, crap... I'd better remember! I feel like he might flip out on me any second!
Defeat the geniuses!
Defeat the geniuses! ...Right?
In a general sense, I guess you could say that! But no, not exactly! Did you forget what I said!?
N-No, I just...! I mean, you said...
Keep trying and the world will reward you!
Keep trying your best, and the world will reward you!
THAT'S RIGHT! And I want you to help me achieve that!
Wait, what? But...that's just like, a figure of speech, right?
No! It's more than that! This world doesn't belong to the geniuses. Try hard enough, and your efforts WILL pay off. I'll see to that myself! And to do that... ...I've decided to become a politician!
Oh, wow... His grandpa was a politician, so I'm sure he has what it takes to become one, too.
Why are you standing there like this doesn't concern you? You have to become a politician, too! Together we can advocate for my ideas and change this country!
Whaaaat!? No, no way! There's no way I could become a politician! Totally impossible!
In the face of effort, NOTHING is impossible! Hahahaha!
Taka's face was shining with an inner glow... I saw then that no matter what darkness might stand before him, he would shine through it. He stood there, smiling, talking about the future he was going to create. And I realized that it was one of many shapes that hope could take... And that's how my school life at Hope's Peak Academy came to an end...
After completing Kiyotaka's school mode ending, you will receive the following Present:
101. Kiyotaka's Undergarments
Kiyotaka's favorite briefs. They were also the preferred briefs of his grandfather, the former prime minister, Toranosuke Ishimaru. The manufacturer, "Military World", claims they help support all ideal Japanese men form down below.
