While his baseball team came to visit, Daisuke also met the likes of Nekomaru Nidai who was suffering from a similar illness.

Nekomaru asked Daisuke why he became a manager after being unable to play baseball because of his illness. Daisuke stated “Even though I can't play baseball with them, I can still share their victory and defeat with them...” and that since he loved the game of baseball he was still doing what he could to support his team. At some point in time, Daisuke passed away before his team had won the tournament. Nekomaru speculated Daisuke's death may have been due to him working too hard gathering statistics to help his team but also suggested he may have had a short amount of time left and wanted to help is team to the full.

Nekomaru, in honor of Daisuke's passing and heeding his inspirational words, took Daisuke's place as manager for his baseball team and helped them win the tournament as a result. Izuru Kamukura (Founder)[]

Gender: Male Male / Title: The Founder of Hope's Peak Academy / Status: Deceased
Izurufounder Izuru Kamukura (神座 出流) was the founder of Hope's Peak Academy, his first appearance being in a photo found by the students during Chapter 4 of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, in the Grape House Lobby. Little is known about Izuru, however he established Hope's Peak Academy for the sake of cultivating personal talent to create hope for those in and outside the school. When he passed away it is likely that Hope's Peak was taken over and controlled by The Steering Committee who were interested in using the schools initial functionality for a greater purpose.
For many years, the academy researched the talents of the Ultimate Students, extraordinarily talented youth from every field. This project was named the Izuru Kamukura Project, also known as the Hope Cultivation Plan, after the academy's founder. The Project involved using the large tuition fees paid by the Reserve Course students for use in experimentation and analyzation of talents to create the worlds hope, the Ultimate Hope, amalgamating a normal student with every talent ever analyzed. The experiment was tested upon Hajime Hinata who was then christened with the name of the school founder Izuru Kamukura, the Ultimate Hope.

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School/Despair Arc: As a memorandum, the school created a large statue of Izuru in the school courtyard which Junko Enoshima at some point used to create a lair underneath the school by creating a hidden entrance beneath the statue.

Trivia:

  • "Kamukura" (as 神座) means "a place in which a god resides" or "a seat for gods". It's used for things like the area in a shrine where the sacred objects are placed.

Teruteru Hanamura's Mother[]

Gender: Female Female / Status: Unknown (Presumably Deceased)/ Voiced by: 日本語 Orine Fukushima / en-US Wendee Lee
Minor Characters Teruteru Hanamura Mother Teruteru Hanamura's Mother (花村 母) was the mother of Teruteru Hanamura and his younger brother and sister, the Ultimate Male Escort and Female Escort who, while being potential Hope's Peak Candidates, were not chosen to attend unlike their older brother.

The Hanamura family lived in a distant town in the countryside and owned a family restaurant, the Hanamura Diner. Teruteru was very close with his mother due to sharing the same passion for cooking, both helping each other run the diner. They struggled for a living, especially after Teruteru's mother fell ill. She became frail and collapsed at times, though she kept working due to not wanting to be a burden on her family. The diner was constantly targeted by large chains and other businesses attempting to buy it out, prompting Teruteru to even enter an unnamed competition with his skills to help stall out a possible takeover. He also claimed to have competed in a cooking death match for his Family diner.

Teruteru was very worried about his mother's condition and her will to keep the Hanamura business running, especially after receiving an invitation to join Hope's Peak Academy. His mother insisted that she was strong enough to handle her illness, allowing Teruteru to leave and attend Hope's Peak. He made a promise to his mother that he would graduate from the school and attain certain success in life, and become a great chef in order to save the Hanamura Diner when he returned. Teruteru suggested after he had graduated that they should expand the Hanamura Diner together and branch out to locations such as Aoyama and Azabu in order to create a successful business. He also promised to bring his future wife back home with him.

A few years later, Teruteru was brainwashed by Junko Enoshima and became a member of the Ultimate Despair. While it is suggested that the Ultimate Despair members murdered their family and friends or possibly handed them over to Junko for experimentation, it can't be confirmed that Teruteru did the same with his own family.

During the Neo World Program, he committed a murder while hoping to win the following class trial, due to his strong desire to see that his mother and home were okay. He was discovered to be the culprit and was then sentenced to be executed, begging to know what happened to his family as a final wish. However, Monokuma refused to reveal any information, causing Teruteru to cry and scream for his mother before his execution began.

Trivia:
  • In the Japanese version of the game Teruteru refers to his mother as お母ちゃん Okā-chan rather than お母さん Okā-san, which is considered the most proper way for one to directly call his own mother or refer to another person's mother in Japanese. Using the "-chan" honorific instead of "-san" emphasizes the deep affection Teruteru has for his mother.
  • In the English Version of the game, her apron says "Hana" in the circle and at the bottom, it says "Hanamura Diner" on it.
  • Her English voice is provided by voice actress Wendee Lee, who also voices Akane Owari and Miu Iruma from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.

Hajime Hinata is shocked by this, as they're underage and supposedly have the same face as the rest of the family. According to some non-canonical manga, they are attractive looking, causing Teruteru to feel bitter about people who are more successful due to their looks.

Pets[]

Grizner[]

Gender: Gender Unknown Unknown / Status: Unknown / Family: Gundham Tanaka (Owner)
Gundam's Grizner Grizner was the pet bear of Gundham Tanaka and one of his many pets to have been properly trained. Gundham brought Grizner to class one morning and began showcasing the various gestures that it could perform, it began imitating his every movement in front of the class which had those such as Sonia Nevermind intrigued. Gundham trained Grizner to be a loyal pet and it would always willingly follow Gundham's commands such as when it bit Kazuichi Soda and Teruteru Hanamura's hands (both holding a donut and a banana, respectively), after the duo's off-color suggestions about Mikan Tsumiki and the Ultimate Imposter's absence. Gundham claimed it was karmic retribution for their actions and so it is presumed Grizner was trained with the same values as Gundham himself.

Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Vanquisher: During morning class in Nagito's imaginary world, Teruteru began feeding Grizner a large piece of meat from a long skewer without the likes of Gundham realizing.

Gundham Tanaka's Pomeranian[]

Gender: Gender Unknown Unknown / Status: Unknown / Family: Gundham Tanaka (Owner)
Gundham Tanaka's Pomeranian Gundham Tanaka's Pomeranian was the pet dog of Gundham Tanaka and one of his few pets to be of trouble training. It is a small dog with fluffy white fur and hazel eyes, having a brown coloration to the underside of its ears and the top side of its tail. Gundham's Pomeranian has a high sense of curiosity while also showing bouts of disobedience due to running away from Gundham and wondering the halls of Hope's Peak Academy without concern. It may also show signs of being greedy due to it approaching other students who were at the time holding food or drink.

Gundham was very worried about losing his pet and placed 13 of the same poster on the class bulletin board. These posters read "WANTED ALIVE OR ALIVE"... "Eating the entirety of the forbidden fruit, which circles the harbor; The tamed demonic beast, which is steeped in that color; on the dawn of its capture, convey it to the one by the seal of Tanaka". The dog at a later time encountered Nagito Komaeda, greeting him supposedly for the drinks in his hand.

One of the drinks fell accidentally and the dog drank it despite Nagito trying to tell it not to. The drink in question happened to be Seiko Kimura's Antagonist drug instead of the laxatives Nagito had hoped for. This caused Gundham's Pomeranian to grow to an incredibly large size and it unknowingly did not become aware of the change, making its way to the gym through the wall where the schools practical exams were taking place, presumably due to the smell of Ruruka Ando's confectionaries. It doesn't seem to realize its strength and causes short-lived chaos by breaking inside the gym and stepping on Sonosuke Izayoi. After an explosion in the gym caused by a bomb, Gundham's Pomeranian reverted back to its original size and was eventually reunited with its owner some time later.
Trivia:
  • Gundham Tanaka's Pomeranian in Danganronpa 3 is supposedly a reference to the fearsome Pomeranian Gundham referred to during Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

Nagito Komaeda's Dog[]

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Family: Nagito Komaeda and his parents (Owners)
Nagitodog Nagito Komaeda's Dog was the pet dog of Nagito Komaeda and his wealthy parents during his childhood. Nagito's dog was very large with a long, thick pale coat, floppy ears and a bushy tail. He had dark-colored, bright eyes and a kind expression and sometimes wore a dark-colored collar. Nagito acknowledged his dog in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair when Akane Owari began strangling him to the point where he was close to death and thus he began having a vision of his dead dog. Upon Chiaki Nanami rescuing Nagito, he promptly thanked Akane for allowing him to see his dog after such a long time. During Nagito's childhood, he was very close to his pet dog and would often hug him affectionately. Some time during Nagito's childhood, it was run over by a truck and died, which likely saddened and deeply traumatized Nagito. The pet's death marks the first (known) of the tragic events that befall Nagito due to his luck.
