I am an admin from the Shipping Wiki. There are a lot of Danganronpa pages on our wiki, and none of us admins are very familliar with the franchise. I was wondering if you could take a look over the ship pages and confirm wether or not which ships are canon. Some fans get pretty intense about their ships and we don't want any inaccurate information on the wiki. If you could also look over character pages to confirm sexualities and romances that would also be awesome.
I understand if you don't have the time, but I would really appreciate it if you did so.
Hey there! This might be long, I'm sorry! But I'll try to keep it simple.
We're not really a franchise with actually canon ships, fortunately. What is deemed canon by the creator for this franchise is the four games, the two series of anime + an OVA, a set of two novels, and a spin-off manga series. Within all of this canon, only one relationship is completely canon with the two parties together romantically and that's Ruruka Ando x Sonosuke Izayoi.
Literally every other ship imaginable is either one-sided (such as the case with Byakuya Togami > Toko Fukawa), non-canon (such as in post-game AU Bonus Modes with the Protagonists Hajime Hinata, Makoto Naegi, Shuichi Saihara x whoever's route you go on), or share feelings but it simply didn't happen because someone or both died (Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu x Peko Pekoyama).
I'm not sure if actual "physical relationships" is a factor to be considered "canon" your wiki (both or more parties are together romantically), or what you consider "canon" as the aforementioned Bonus Mode ones are "canon" but only in that specific instance of the alternate universe and finishing their route. If you consider it canon, I will list the ships too.
The majority of the time, it's just intense friendships with sometimes implications something could be there, but nothing concrete.
For sexualities it's once again mostly ambiguous and very few are considered canonly not-straight in Danganronpa.
However these are the canon ones with material within the games/anime/etc: Juzo Sakakura (same gendered attraction), Teruteru Hananmura (multiple gendered attraction), Mikan Tsumiki (multiple gendered attraction), Ibuki Mioda (multiple gendered attraction), and Nagito Komaeda (same gendered attraction).
And here are the ones with less "canon" and will be up to you to decide since it's your wiki: Tenko Chabashira, Kokichi Oma, Shuichi Saihara, Kaito Momota, and Korekiyo Shinguji. Their reasoning is on their pages under Trivia, for easier finding.
I hope this helps! If you have any more questions or need any more details, just let us know!
We do consider it canon even in the alterante realities but would just list as canon only there. Our consideration for canon is 100% in a relationship. Like actualy romantically involved. If it's just that they both have feelings for one another/one-sided attraction it would be Semi-Canon.
If you could list the Canon one's from the Alternate Route's that would be awesome.
Alright, based on that I'll just use the list you have on your DR page and go thru each one to label them!
Details: School Mode/Island Mode/Salmon Team are the post-game Bonus Modes where the Killing Game doesn't take place (making it an AU from the main plot), instead it's more or less a dating simulator with a gathering minigame. You go on dates with whoever you like, accumulating into a final confession if you get their "hearts" up enough.
Free Time Events are points in the main story where you can spend time with any of the living characters to learn more about them. Not romantic, but more hanging out. However a few turn out to have some romantic implications so I'll point them out. These are less "AU" but while the events don't canonly happen within the story since they're optional, the backstory/feelings the character feels is canon.

All Polyships are Fanon.
The only Semi-Canon FamilyShip is Despair Sisters with one-sided feelings from Mukuro. The rest are Fanon.
Are they actually dating though in the novel? Like physically dating or just having feelings for one another? Because if not, the Shipping Wiki considers it Semi-Canon. But I'm not certain myself since I have yet to read Zero.
At least some years ago in the past, Yasuke was generally annoyed with Junko and denied Junko's claim that they're lovers by calling her a stalker (it seems he uses rude insults towards her like he does with Ryoko). They were friends because they didn't have anyone else, though Yasuke did seem to care about her despite his usual attitude. He later describes Junko as "not family, a lover or even a friend ... but someone just as important to (him) as any of those". Some time after that he says he both loves and hates Junko while being extremely frustrated with her actions. It's complicated. Junko definitely loves him, though, more than anyone else.
Well, as per Shipping Wiki's rules any and all parties need to be dating for it to be canon as said above. However I'll leave it up to RABNerd VP's judgement what to with it on their wiki, if they're still following this thread.
And if you have any further discussion about this topic of Shipping Wiki, please take it to that wiki instead since I was only offering help and it's not really up to me what gets put on a separate wiki.
Hey there. You’re welcome to use any text currently on pages, but we (myself and the other admins) are not comfortable releasing a full backup of the wiki publicly. Sorry. :( Best of luck with your NLP!
ummm... sorry if this is doesn’t sound clear to me, but, why is Gundham Tanaka’s height 5’9” in the English localization but on Centimeters he is 182cm? Like? I think he would be taller than 5’9” probably or approximately 6’0” but anyways? This sounds confusing because I don’t understand the Feet to inches converting into Centimeters thing, so please excuse me on that
Monollama is AFK right now, I'm another Admin: These heights come from the English and Japanese report cards respectively, they aren't 1:1 conversions of inches to centimeters. For whatever reason, the English localizations always adjust heights, whether it makes sense or not, so we just display both of them as they are straight from the game.
Ah, okay I see, also, another reason I would like to point out is that? I know this is unessary for me to say this, but the Danganronpa Girls(and only especially the Girls) but I would like to say? In the actual Japanese localization, are the girls are shorter than their actual height like Kaede is 5’8” (172cm I believe) is her actual height 5’4” because she is actually taller than Suichi who is 5’7” so???? Like, I know this dosen’t make sense but I would just want to know?
Which height you go by is honestly up to you - if you'd personally prefer to go by the japanese height or the english localisation height, both are valid, they're both from official sources. Most characters in DR are shorter in the English localization, we don't know why.
Yeah, and it’s probably because most people, especially girls in America(United States) are Tall, I mean, take Taylor Swift for an Example, but honestly I don’t know why they decided to make the English localization taller than keeping their Japanese height, although? What is Kaede’s Height in the Japanese Localization? Just asking?
Since the heights can be different in the localisations, could it be possible to include cm and feet and inches equilevants for both Japanese and English games? For example, Kaede would be 167cm/5'5½" (JP) and 5'8"/173cm (EN). Then people could tell the difference + some people understand cm better and some feet and inches.
No. We used to do that and people were constantly "fixing" the conversions on both sides and in doing so actually changing the actual, canonical heights, and it became really time consuming to check every time, especially because the people would "fix" them en-masse.
Hello, welcome to the Wiki! I'm Scottie, one of the other Admins here.
I've deleted the file that was just a bunch of numbers for you, and I've added the correctly named one to the first tab of Kaede's gallery. Thanks for your help!
In future, if you need to reach out about something, we have a Requests and Suggestions Thread, which you can find in the top bar under Community -> Forums -> Requests and Suggestions. Using that thread makes it easier for any moderator who's around to help you, which is quicker than contacting one of us directly.
If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact us!
The sprite pages for "alter-ego" type characters (not the AI) seem to be inconsistent. We have Sprites:Toko Fukawa/Genocide Jack and the recently split Sprites:Monomi/Usami, but also Sprites:Izuru Kamukura. Why is Izuru the only one that isn't named like a subpage?
Since you said that V3 files should be properly named, I thought you should know that File:Danganronpa V3 Angie YonagaFullbody Sprite (High School Uniform) (1).png has a missing space in the name. I understand if this isn't a priority; I'm just letting you know.
